Towpig super duper duty

Picked this thing up a few days back. We have been wanting to do some longer trips and the old 7.3 wasn't reliable enough for what we had planned.

The good is it's really in nice shape for the year no accidents in the records and only 170000 kms

The bad is it's a v10 fuel smasher but it has all the upgrades needed to help it. Intake exhaust and a tuner. So it should still get better fuel mileage than my old non intercooled 7.3

That thing looks pretty minty.  With that low of kms on it, it should be a good rig for a long time.

After seeing some v10's in the patch I've come to appreciate them. Actually pretty solid. Nice rig.

Yeah I was talking with a welder buddy he has a v10 as well as a 24v cummins and he said loaded with his camper the v10 gets better mileage than the cummins but once he puts his lake boat on the back the cummins makes up for it in the power department as well as mileage

i love my gas pot for towing, sure its hard on fuel and might slow down for hills when loaded but on the long hills I pass the diesel guys as they start getting hot.  and like you said the diesels don't get great millage when loaded so cost of running the gas pot is where its at in my eyes.
I love old trucks. everything is made of mo'F#@kin' steel. Need to move some Sh$t cause you made it more awesome? NBD. drink a whiskey, grow a beard, cut it, grind it, weld it back.

so fueled this thing up for the first time since buying it and by my calculations its getting about 18.5 litres per 100 km. in that time I have hauled 4 fj62s home or to their new owners as well as brought a old English lathe home that I picked up last year. and everytime going up and over hungry hill both ways. so im sure I can live with the fuel milage as im kind of a lead foot and if I can remember to keep it under 110 it should only get better lol

Honestly I find the fords kinda get what they get. Doesn't seem to improve much when babied but when working hard they aren't that bad. My tundra I hated. Was good empty but damn paid $$ for it as soon as it had to do anything. Even towing my rhino on a snowmobile trailer single axle it would drop to 22L/100 at the speed limit. It couldn't pack enough fuel.

 :o :o :o wow, Glad i kept my 5.9, loaded with camper and rig on trailer the worst i seen it was 16L/100. I get well over 1000km per tank when empty

Well I've put over 4K on this thing hauling and camping and loving it. Lots of power for hauling our 11 foot camper and the flat deck trailer.
