Snow wheeling season is here

Not exactly a great start to the season. J53 called in sick for the trip, so Gary (the guy who built my tj-6) was still game to test his new to him 80 series cruiser on 35" toyos. We knew leaving town the sugary snow would be a fight and might not be able to go far. But wanting to get out anyways we left. When we got to the hill where the wheeling started it's a mean pull with about a foot of snow or so. We dropped down to 7-8 psi and I broke trail. 2nd gear low range and flat out rev limiter or all I could turn and away i went. Made the first tough pull and the second one I was fighting and Gary called on the radio saying his progress had stalled out and he was dropping a few more pounds of air. I got out and walked up looking for a turn around. Found one so i jumped in and getting moving was tough. I iced up my ruts and paid for that mistake. Got going and turned around and wateched Gary fight to follow me which is awesome since he's got 2 more lockers and bigger tires than me. Wj really holds its own and I'm impressed for what it is. We then went on a mild loop above mable lake, to Baird lake then let the kids play at hidden lake before airing up and heading home.
i can break anything, lend me your keys and i will prove it!

Trip was pretty short. That's all I had Time for on pics side. Worked most of December so haven't had time to get out. J53 being sick held us back as he could have broke trail for a bit.

No music so you need to supply your own. Prob better than mine anyways. Got some snow wheeling in with family. Had an extra family fill both jeeps up. First time for them wheeling. The cold weather means snow was sugary and a fight. Got stuck on a rock in the rock garden towards end of video. Big rock on control arm and it rolled and lifted one side up and without lockers I was good and stuck. Anyways. Nice to get out. The powerlock and claws really woke the Mitsubishi up too. He hit a rut aired down low. 4 -5 psi range and burped air out without popping beads. Aired back up to 5psi and we were off again.

There we go. Looked fun out there. That's a pretty good hill to try to climb in the snow. I need to take toy out in snow one of these days.

Ya. The sugary snow was too much to push going up hill. I was 1st gear 5000 rpm + all the way up breaking trail. Could pull second in low range. The little diesel burned the most fuel he ever used wheeling. Even in the time lapse you can see it working.
