Snow wheeling with old5

Tried the loop at hidden lake but only made maybe 1/3 of it all day. I’m a little under tired for the deep wet snow. It was perfect conditions out.  Had lots of fun.  New pistons in the motor and it ran great sounded good. Started off at 5-6 psi but dropped to 4 at lunch and I’m finally getting a feel for driving the auto trans. Lots of pull backs when I was breaking trail. The open diffs go fine and don’t hold me back at all but it I don’t let out of it soon enough I dig in when I stop. Old5 planted it twice pretty hard. Couldn’t yank him out and I got stuck with my kinetic rope right tight. Had his one tire hanging over a 6 foot drop when we stopped. His tire was on snow but nothing under the snow. J53 I’m sure was at work crying hard. Best snow wheeling trip we’ve had in a really long time.

Old5 didn’t like me plugging the trail so he caved my door in trying to push me.  Now it won’t open.

Not sure I’m man enough to wheel that flatty all the time.  The tires kinda suck for the snow. We have been talking about flipping the front tires and maybe putting screws into them as when it ices up it literally can’t move. Lack of winch too kinda held us back. The winch for it is up north.  Been also kicking idea of swapping the cj5 and flatty tires around.  The 5 has enough power to maybe spin them and make them work.

I think once the snow sets up you’ll see more of the flatty around. Or possibly with the bfg’s off the 5 on it. Been trying to talk Old5 into buying my claws once I step up to the iroks.

Lol I used to keep my stock spare on the back of my tintop just because Jason used to always hit me with his cj5 when we were snowwheling

It’s kinda funny cause j53 did this to me but his shackles caught on my bumper just as his fair lead hit my door. The cj5 did no such thing.

Those were good days of no winches, just daisy chained together, push and pull rofl. Sometimes I think we used to have more fun with our old stock rigs  ;D
